Quail Cover House

NameQuail Cover House
LocationEastham, MA
Year2025
This renovation of a third-generation family home began with a modest house at the edge of a sensitive site, a short walk to the bay and adjacent to a wilderness preserve. In addition to the home, the original structure included a garage for wintering a boat which has now been incorporated into the house, maintaining the original footprint while adding living space with very little modification to the wood framing. The intersection of the simple roof lines between the garage and home is exposed at the new main entry, producing a geometry that extends in both directions to unify the ceiling from one end of the house to the other. Millwork storage walls and screens divide the home into discrete spaces, providing seating, while framing openings to the landscape.
